  • Support for Families

Holly da Roza and Gemma Duxbury are Pendle Primary Academy's Wellbeing Team. Their role is to provide mental health and wellbeing support for children and their families.

Holly and Gemma work closely with children, parents and family members on issues that may be affecting them. They can offer support and advice on a wide range of issues and can signpost parents towards outside agencies if required.

In school, Holly and Gemma offer children informal one-to-one or small group chat/play sessions, wellbeing groups and workshops, as well as targeted therapeutic support.  Alongside this, they offer parents and carers wellbeing support in the form of friendly one-to-one chats which can be on an ad hoc or a more regular basis.  They also offer parent and carer groups and workshops, such as coffee mornings, Year 6 transition sessions and Friday Together Breakfasts.

Part of Holly and Gemma's role is to work closely with staff, outside agencies and organisations to improve opportunities for children and their families at our school. An integral part of their role is linking families with other agencies, such as school nurses, parenting workshops/programmes, the Children and Family Wellbeing Service, counselling services, financial and housing advice services, parent support groups, to name a few!

If you are feeling like you need some support, please let Holly or Gemma know by asking for them at the school office or ringing the school on 01282 615927.  No problem is too big or too small, they are here to listen.
